Cahill Plaza
Cahill Plaza, located in Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota, represents a unique development and redevelopment Case Study, rolled into one. JMW Principal Dan Wozniak originally developed this grocery-anchored neighborhood center in 1996, which consisted of a SuperValu grocery store and adjacent MGM Liquor Store, and a free-standing commercial strip building housing a video store and sundry commercial shops. In 2001, sensing that the market could support a larger store, SuperValu proposed converting the existing store to the much larger Cub Foods format. With an extraordinarily tight time frame, Dan accomplished the following:
Contractual Time Frame: June 1, 2002 to Thanksgiving 2002;
Downsized the video store AND expanded this section of the
--free-standing building;
Relocated the liquor store from its space adjacent to the grocery
--store to the former (and expanded) video store space;
Expanded the grocer into the former liquor store space AND
--added 8,700 square feet of additional space added onto the building;
All existing stores, including the grocery store, remained OPEN
--during the course of the project;
Project completed on November 2, 2002.
